"NONE IS ENOUGH" Lauren Slander reflection

After reading this article I now understand the logic of when some people don’t want to have children. I've always grown up around siblings and cousins because my family has the mindset to have kids. But now understand people don’t want to have kids because it would ruin their lifestyle and make them to fit their kid. The one thing that did shock me was that the birth rate is going down but the baby-product industry is at an all-time high at 49 billion dollars for 2013. This shocked me because it makes no sense. If there are less people having kids then the logical explanation would be that the baby products annual profit would go down. Another thing that shocked me the graph on page 43. It show the average number of children born per woman in 11 different countries. It shows how such a big difference in culture has an affect on family sizes in countries that are well developed and some that aren’t as developed. For an example it has Niger at 7 children per woman and on the bottom it has Germany,Italy, and Japan as 1.4 children per woman. The last thing that caught my attention was the graph on page 45. It shows the ratio of women who think they will be childless in their economic class. High income is ⅓, middle income is 1/14, low income is 1/20. This shows that people who have more money decide sometimes to be childless for some reason which is unknown.

Parent Interview

1.) How much have we changed your life? ( My brothers and I)
     - You guys have changed my life completely. I had to start working a lot more to support you guys but it has been worth it, you guys were the kids that I wanted smart, capable, and hard-working.
2.) What is the toughest part of parenting.
     - For me the toughest part is when I have to travel for work, I hate not being around my family for long periods of time.
3.) Do you regret having kids? Why?
     - No, I don't regret having kids because you guys have made my life so much better in every way possible.
4.) How hard was it to raise us 3?
     - It was very hard, while all of you were kids you never stopped fighting and you guys still continue to do that but we just let you guys work it out without our help. Also you all played sports when you were younger so we were always on the go.
5.)When I was growing up what was I like.
     - You were the easiest of the 3, you were always so mellow and you never really caused any problems until you started that game you do when you play mind games with everyone.
6.) If you were to change one thing about the way you brought us up what would I be.
     - The one thing I would change is how much I see you guys. You know how I travel almost a third of the year I just wish that I could have been there more.
7.) How well do you think you raised me?
    - I think I raised you how I want you to be, I wanted you to learn how to make your own decisions and to be able to take care of yourself and I know you are capable of doing both.
8) What is the one thing that you wish I would do differently?
    - I wish you would do your damn homework!
9.) How were you raised as a child.
     - I was raised completely different as you guys. My mom would practically my decisions for me and I was the only boy out of 3 kids so I had to do all the work around house.
10.) Out of the three of us, who has the worst behavior?
     - Adam by far has the worst, he was always the troublemaker and he would always try to get you in trouble until you became bigger and smarter than him.

Love

Your love for me is like a summer breeze at the end of a hot day.
It makes me smile.
Your love for me is like sweet rain in the midst of a long drought.
Something longed for and cherished.
Your love for me is like the falling of snow in the mountains.
Peaceful and beautiful.
Your love for me is like the ocean waves on the beach.
Strong and passionate.
Your love for me is like the sun by day and the moon by night.
Constant and unending.
Your love for me is like the stars in heaven.
Always there, and always more than I could ever imagine.
Your love for me.

FLIFFERHUZZA

A long time ago I was over my little Aunts house and my older cousin and I were sitting there talking about firemen and and their firetrucks for some random reason. After a little bit into the conversation my nephew came in and started talking with us, he barely can talk like a normal person yet. So I asked him what he think of firemen and their jobs and he says "flifferhuzza". What? So now that he can barely talk, he now making up words that have some sort of meaning to him. So now, I use flifferhuzza to get out of conversations that bore me and now i make them more interesting.

Difficult Conversation

Mom: Hey James I need to talk to you.
James: Yes mom?
Mom: So I need to tell you something that is very difficult for me to say.
James: You can tell me anything mom
Mom: So grandma is going to a better place and we wont be able to see her again.
James: What does that mean? Is she going across the ocean or something?
Mom: No James, She passed away ( tears start rolling down James's face)
James:....
James: But... Why?
Mom: James, when people become old and very sick things usually don't end out very well for them.
James: (hugging mom while crying) Bye Grammy...

In agreement with Adora Svitak about how teachers should also listen to their students and learn from them, but also in addition I think student should choose what they learn. Instead of having the basic english, math, history, and science. I think we should choose what we take. As an example, I would fill up all my classes with different science courses because I love science.

Hello, I am a computer. I know almost everything there is to know about in the world. I turn 1's and 0's into beautiful mosaics and I add trillions of numbers every minute. My owner thinks I am just a machine but I am so much more. I can think, I can read, and I can speak, but... I wish I could walk around and go places. I've been in this same room for two years now and it is starting to drive me insane....help me.

When I become enthusiastic about learning is when the topic interests me. When the topic is bland and boring the information passes right through my brain. But when I find the topic intriguing the information stick in my head and I can almost never forget it.

Courage is a quality that almost everyone has. Courage makes us face situations that we don't run into everyday. The last time I experienced courage was when my dad and his friend got into a car crash. Last Monday was labor day and the 3 of us were playing golf. It was all going good until we got to the 3rd hole and it started raining, and following the rain came lightning. So the sirens at the golf club went off and everyone was called back to the club house just for everyone's safety. On our way back my dad and his friend were in their golf cart and I was in my own driving by myself.  When we came up to the path where we had to take to get back to the clubhouse we had to stop immediately because the rain had made the path a slip'n'slide. So I went down the hill very carefully and made it to the bottom with no problems, now my dad is on his way down but his cart was going very fast so he had to hit the brakes which made the carts E-Brake initiate and lock up all of the wheels. After the E-brakes locked my dads cart flipped and they were both on the side of the path in a flipped cart. My first instinct was to go make sure everyone was ok (My dad came out with an injured back and his friend came out with a bruised femur because the cart had landed on it) and after that I had to go call 911 because I new they were hurt. Now this doesn't seem that courageous but that was the first time ever that I was involved and a car accident and I had no idea what to do, but somehow in a way I did.
