"NONE IS ENOUGH" Lauren Slander reflection

After reading this article I now understand the logic of when some people don’t want to have children. I've always grown up around siblings and cousins because my family has the mindset to have kids. But now understand people don’t want to have kids because it would ruin their lifestyle and make them to fit their kid. The one thing that did shock me was that the birth rate is going down but the baby-product industry is at an all-time high at 49 billion dollars for 2013. This shocked me because it makes no sense. If there are less people having kids then the logical explanation would be that the baby products annual profit would go down. Another thing that shocked me the graph on page 43. It show the average number of children born per woman in 11 different countries. It shows how such a big difference in culture has an affect on family sizes in countries that are well developed and some that aren’t as developed. For an example it has Niger at 7 children per woman and on the bottom it has Germany,Italy, and Japan as 1.4 children per woman. The last thing that caught my attention was the graph on page 45. It shows the ratio of women who think they will be childless in their economic class. High income is ⅓, middle income is 1/14, low income is 1/20. This shows that people who have more money decide sometimes to be childless for some reason which is unknown.
